Description

The INMOS Transputer was the first microprocessor built to be used in an interconnected array for parallel processing. The processor chip contained RAM and associated control circuitry, and communication channel circuitry for up to four bidirectional channels. The natural topography was to be a two-dimensional grid, and each chip had the capability to boot and load code and data into its neighbors.
